Direct, permanent employment means we deliver the highest standards, be it quality, health and safety or environmental protection. It also means our investment in you is in place from day one; be it training and development or the generous benefits package.
Roles span a variety of trades and use structured programmes to enable you to expand your skill set and advance in your profession.
We place value on the job security that direct employment affords and because a large proportion of our work involves delivering projects that are part of five-year water sector contracts, it means we can forecast and forward plan our workload.
Joining the JN Bentley on a Level 2 Groundworker apprenticeship is a great starting place to build your career in the construction industry. The apprenticeship will give you a solid understanding of construction operations and give you the practical skills to be able to carry out a variety of construction-based tasks, working on a live construction site.
As a general operative (also called a groundworker) you’ll work as part of a team carrying out construction-based tasks, making sure these are completed safely, on time and to a high quality. This might include things like setting-up and maintaining a clean and tidy site, groundworking, formworking, steel fixing, steel piling, concreting and road working.
Kicking off your career with an apprenticeship opens up lots of opportunities for future progression and development. When you complete your Level 2 qualification you’ll be a skilled general construction operative and, as you develop your skills, there’s the chance to take on greater responsibility or even lead your own site team.
